The UK band Smile, having recently changed their name, performed for the first time on June 27, 1970, as Queen, playing Truro City Hall in Cornwall, England. The original band was formed in 1968 by Brian May, who was to become Queens guitarist. It included Tim Staffell as singer and bassist, and later, drummer Roger Taylor, who also went on to play for Queen. When Staffell left to join another band, Humpy Bong, Smile officially disbanded.
