The UN climate talks in Lima has the biggest carbon footprint - TopicsExpress

The UN climate talks in Lima has the biggest carbon footprint ever! CFACTs delegation is there. Share the facts at CFACT.org: climatedepot/ The Lima conference is expected to have the biggest carbon footprint of any U.N. climate meeting measured to date. The venue is one big reason. It had to be built. Eleven football fields of temporary structures arose for the 13-day negotiations from what three months ago was an empty field behind Perus armys headquarters. Concrete was laid, plumbing installed, components flown in from as far as France and Brazil. Standing in the midday sun here can get downright uncomfortable, but the Lima sun is not reliable. Thats one reason solar panels were not used. For electricity, the talks are relying exclusively on diesel generators. Lima is very humid. How much air conditioning you get at the conference depends on your status. Building G, which houses the NGOs is sometimes almost uninhabitable. The country delegates are complaining that its often too hot to work. CFACT does much of our reporting from building C where the AC is strong to protect the UNs computer network. Lets hope Limas natural heat and humidity help thwart some of the terrible treaty provisions UN bureaucrats hope to pass.
