The US Army Corps of Engineers wants to build a levee that will cut the Mississippi River off from the last remaining backwater habitat in Missouri. If the levee project is built, it will benefit only a handful of landowners who plan to drain and farm the New Madrid Floodway – a 75,000 acre floodplain complex that provides essential habitat and ecosystem function for countless native species. Tell the Army Corps to listen to the experts - abandon the project, and if not, EPA needs to use their veto power!
