The US Department of Justice and Albuquerque Police Department are looking for the right candidate to be an independent monitor for APD, and the job has now been posted. The two agencies entered a settlement agreement after the DOJ found a pattern of APD violating peoples civil rights and using excessive force. The job requires the monitor to track and evaluate implementation of the agreement. The person will also regularly report APDs progress to the court, as well as review training materials, programs and use-of-force investigations.
