The USS Defiant is one of my favourite ship designs, but it can be a very confusing ship when it comes to working out certain details (no doubt a production/writer issue) When you look at the official deck plans deck 4 its almost an empty deck other than the landing gear. From the exterior view this deck is where all the window lights are visible but you never see windows from the inside on screen. Question is why was internal space so short and all the crew quarters so small when there was this unused deck, they could have all had a room with a view?
