The Ultimate Key West Model Rail Road project: Call This Manifest Destiny for the Museum, but sooner or later It may very well be built, so Consider this the first leg of what could be the Museums Iconic and most serious Museum quality Rail road display. The Plan can go in several directions from which ever desired choice projects are to be taken…but we will need the following. Since its going to be a reenacted layout of Old Henry Flagler’s Railroad to Key West we will need to secure several HO scale miles of straightaway. Several Iconic Bridges must be selected and built…. At least 3 major types that best represented the keys and possibly reduced to fit our plans. We will include 1900 era Victorian houses for Key West and other structures based on Historical facts…. Also buildings and scenes from the Miami area. Era 1900s- 1929 is acceptable ,it is also possible to stop and include recreated scenes of Hurricane damage and the Last train out. The Overseas rail road was in a constant state of work and so we will need a presents of work boats, Paddle Riverboats, Barrack boats, and dredging equipment as well as cranes. Vegetation will be our typical Florida Keys Mangrove and quite possibly thousands of handmade palms The Layout is an A to B Layout …Key West utilized a Y but it is possible to try a reversing Loop. I am inexperienced in Model Railroad Electronics so I will need expert help if anyone knows how to set up a layout with Automatic Reversing loops for a train going A to B. We will also need probably more artistic volunteers from anyone who wishes to also partake in helping with the epic build…There will be many things to paint and assemble such as trees and knick knacks as well as feedback from those who may actually remember this rail road or are expert rail road buffs. I also Highly advise we go about documenting the Model constructions. This layout can be built and maybe should be built in stages…It may be possible to display sections of track or even send a section of the display off for an event presentation….The model will be of Museum quality and may take quite some time to build. This presentation of the Overseas Railroad HO model will become an Iconic marvel of the Rail road Museum and will greatly aid in the public viewing providing both education and enjoyment for both young and old…as the train makes its route at scale speeds there could also be pictured documents posted up on the walls as well as any historic facts or photographs. As a final note the, Display is really Out of bounds for any private citizen to build in any known home, it’s just too big ! Building several scale miles of HO track will definitely draw attention to Model Rail roader magazine, Local news and Newspapers , The Internet and other Television Media sources. We do not have to build all of it at once but the first leg will be assembling things and displaying to the public a work in progress and HO trains need not run until we are done!
