The Unique Adapted Desert Dwelling Elephants need URGENT International Protection The Unique Adapted Desert Dwelling Elephants, being well documented by the BBC Wildlife in Africa live in the VAST, OLDEST DESERT on earth; 2 million Square Kilometres in size “, and the whole of the human population living in Namibia is just over 2 million people, who do not live in the desert. https://youtube/watch?v=U0v5MIdyxZc I struggle to see that there is a problem with competition for space between humans and such depleted wildlife, that anyone can justify issuing Hunting Permits to kill almost extinct animals for Trophies, because there are problems with human conflict? This does not make sense. These Hunting Permits are illegal and against the rules of CITIES. 180 Member Countries have signed an agreement to protect wildlife, the USA and Namibia has broken their agreement and so has World Wildlife Fund with CITIES and the International Community, so it seems. This decision to kill these 9 Elephants Bulls from only 18, needs URGENT action, through an independent inquiry and intervention from the International Community. Not one country, through their own propaganda and lies should have the power to be this corrupt. Why are there no Incentives or Safe Guards built into the rules of CITIES to encourage Countries to be open and honest? Namibia is part of CITIES and the Commonwealth; and they have a responsibility to the International Community too respect the rules. Elephant Nomads of the Namib Desert mikebirkhead/EchoNomads.html World Wildlife Fund and the Namibian Ministry are claiming that Sir David Attenborough Broadcaster and Naturalist; Produced Natural History for over 60 years, and his BAFTA BBC Documentary Teams are wrong? From the research gathered and filmed for the BBC’s landmark series Planet Earth’ and ‘Living Planet ‘Wildlife in Africa? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Attenborough There is proof from the World Leading Educational Resources and research done by these individuals from Oxford and Cambridge Universities, BBC Documentary Markers which has Credible International Respect and standing in the world: that the Rare Desert Elephants, are different to their Savanna Cousins; The Desert Elephants; only give birth every 8 years or so, (half as many births) and they suckle their young for twice as long, than their Savanna Cousins After they were massacred by poachers in the 1980s “ from a population of only 80 they were reduced to only 3”. The Desert Elephants have taken all this time to recover to a population of 100 Unique Adapted Desert Dwelling Elephants in 30 years. https://youtube/watch?v=Hg4DJ-x85Dw The rare Desert Elephants need International Protection or members of Dallas Safari Club and Safari Club International will kill them and send them into extinction because this is Unsustainable Trophy Hunting involving the USA once again: - https://youtube/watch?v=qmYig9gSamY The World Wildlife Fund and USAID have created a different reality and they claim alongside the Namibian Government that there are 750 Desert Elephants from an overall population of 20 thousands Elephants, and that there is no differences between the African Elephants groups. The World Wildlife Fund also claim that there are thousands of Elephants in Namibia and the Unique Adapted Desert Dwelling Elephants only 100 hundred in the Namib Desert, does not exist. The Namibian Government are refusing to back down, even though there is a backdrop of a Global Outcry as people are becoming aware of this injustice. Over 26,000 people have signed a petition globally in just over 2 months to stop the 7 permits from being sold to kill the Rare Desert Elephants. https://secure.avaaz.org/en/petition/Namibian_Minister_of_Environment_and_Tourism_U_Herunga_Stop_ALL_Hunting_of_Rare_Desert_Elephants/ Almost 4,000 people have signed a petition in just over two weeks to block the Rare Desert Elephant Trophy Imports into the USA https://secure.avaaz.org/en/petition/Director_Daniel_M_Ashe_USFWS_John_E_Scanlon_CITIES_SecretaryGeneral_BAN_USA_TROPHY_IMPORTS_of_the_UNIQUE_ADAPTED_DESERT_/?siiBshb Nothing will change the Namibian Government and we are allowing them to massacre these Rare Elephants because there are no International Laws to stop them. This is going to take a higher authority and urgent intervention. `africageographic/.../namibian-government.../ Namibia Refuses to Cancel Desert Elephant Hunt After Protests 08/14/2014 7 Comments Source: Bloomberg By Felix Njini Namibia won’t withdraw permits granted to hunt desert elephants, a group of the pachyderms that live in the country’s arid northwest, despite protests, the country’s Environment and Tourism minister said. While decision to allow the hunting of nine elephants, most of them classified as so-called desert elephants, has sparked a Facebook campaign, ‘Stop All Hunting of Rare Desert Elephants,’ the minister said the money raised will be used to aid community conservation efforts. “There is no withdrawal of the permits we gave for elephant hunting,” Uahekua Herunga, the minister said in an Aug. 12 interview from Windhoek, the capital. “We are applying the the country’s constitutional provisions, which entails that natural resources of the country are managed sustainably.” The elephants, which live in the Kunene region, are one of only two groups adapted to desert existence with the other being in Mali. They numbered about 750 in 2012, according to the WWF, an environmental group. Most African elephants live in the Savannah regions of southern and eastern Africa while a subspecies lives in the rain forests of west and central Africa. The elephants, one of which has already been shot, are mostly old animals, he said. “We fail to understand the opposition to this, the elephants are better protected if communities are benefiting,” he said. noanimalpoaching.org/animal-poaching-news-2014/namibia-refuses-to-cancel-desert-elephant-hunt-after-protests PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE https://secure.avaaz.org/en/petition/Director_Daniel_M_Ashe_USFWS_John_E_Scanlon_CITIES_SecretaryGeneral_BAN_USA_TROPHY_IMPORTS_of_the_UNIQUE_ADAPTED_DESERT_/?wQweebb
