The University of Malawi Students Union (UMSU) intends to hold its annual invitation festival on the weekend of 29th November – 1st December 2013 at Chancellor College, constituent college of University of Malawi. As the festival is falling during the International world Aids Day it has been themed “UMSU against HIV and AIDS: Reducing the Prevalence and Spread of HIV among University of Malawi Students through Sports” The fight against HIV is a very important part of UMSU, this Festival (HIV and AIDS Day) ito be held at Chancellor College of the 29th November 2013 will therefore be used to highlight the fact that the Unima youth have the duty to guide fellow youth from within and outside the university in the fight against the pandemic. This project is being managed by the UMSU Executive council and Unima Sports Association (USAM) with its goals is to guide the Unima students to effectively respond and contribute to the reduction of the spread of HIV and to encourage positive living with the virus and people living with the virus.This project will be part of the UMSU 2013 HIV and AIDS Day where HIV and AIDS Messages can be spread to the students of the Unima and other participating colleges. Activities during the festival will include various sporting activities and UMSU night (with music perfomances by renown artists like Tay Grin and Contests) at the Great hall. this has been made possible by funds from MALSWITCH and AIRTEL companies.
