The University of Melbourne is shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of life of those aboard Flight MH17. We are especially saddened to hear reports that Elaine Teoh is among the dead. Ms Teoh graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2008. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time. The University is also distressed to learn that esteemed researchers and colleagues in the field of HIV and AIDs were on board the flight. This is a terrible loss to the global research community at a time when we were getting ready to welcome them to the World AIDs Conference in Melbourne to share the latest advances in the field. The impact of this devastating loss will no doubt be felt among the global research community for years to come. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of all those affected by this terrible tragedy. The University offers a range of support services for staff and students who may be affected by this news.
