The Uplifting Word/Matthew- chapter 1 contains the birth of Jesus 1:16, 18-25. Matthan was the father of Jacob, Jacob father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah. There were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah. Mt.1:16,17. This is how the birth of the Messiah came about. His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Joseph wanted to divorce her quietly, but an angel appeared to him telling him that Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit. Joseph took her home as his wife. 1:18-25. Insight: What a privilege & burden to be chosen to bare God’s son.
