The Urban DFW Elite Basketball Organization is a non-profit, charitable organization that has been formed to develop life and basketball skills of young ladies from grades 9th to 12th grade. This year our team is comprised of young ladies from Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas. We are committed to the improvement of academics, team work, sportsmanship, discipline, self-respect and basketbal...l skills. The objective of the Urban DFW Elite Basketball Organization is to provide adolescents with an opportunity to participate in sports. We are providing financial assistance to the players on our team who are low-income, underserved young ladies who cannot afford the cost of playing sports. We raise awareness of the importance of athletics in developing future leaders, with skills and values that transfer from the basketball court into the classroom, workplace, family and community. Reach studies show that youth sports is a positive developmental tool for the next generation of Americans. They provide an action-oriented and successful path to discipline, leadership, crime-prevention, lower drop-out rates and health lifestyles. Studies overwhelmingly conclude that students who participate in sports program do better in life. This year, we are offering the opportunity to participate in local competition (PBR Super 64, Frisco, Texas) and national competitions (Battle of Boro, Franklin, Tennessee; Basketball on the Bayou, New Orleans, Louisiana; and Fila 64, Las Vegas, Nevada). The tournaments listed offer our young players an opportunity to be seen by college recruiters and possibly earn a scholarship to a 2 or 4 year college. As you can imagine, this can ease the burden of a low-income family. A traveling basketball club is expensive and we want to showcase our talented young athletes and do not want any player to miss the opportunity to play due to financial hardships.
