The Utah Transit Authority painted a new set of stripes on 1000 - TopicsExpress

The Utah Transit Authority painted a new set of stripes on 1000 North this Wednesday, but the new lane will be reserved for bicycle traffic — a first for Tooele City. The bike lane, which will parallel 1000 North for just over a mile between Main Street and Droubay Road, should be open for use this week, said Jacob Splan, a construction planner and engineer for UTA. This project is not only the first on-road bike lane in Tooele City, but also the first time UTA has worked with Tooele City on such a grant, Splan said. He said that Rachelle Custer, Tooele City planner, had approached UTA with the idea, and the county’s Live Fit coalition had backed up the suggestion with strong support — ultimately leading UTA to begin pursuing the project. Tooele Co Health Dept Employee, Brad Gillies, with Tooele Valley Cycling went for a ride on the new bike lane today. He said, This is Great! There are views of the Oquirrh Mountains, the Great Salt Lake, horses in an open field and look close in one picture, AirMeds helicopter was landing on the base in Tooele. livefittc.org/ https://facebook/bikeutah https://facebook/groups/tvcc.group/ tooeleonline/uta-set-to-paint-tooele-citys-first-bike-lane-on-10th-north/ https://facebook/RideUTA https://facebook/tooelecity
