The Vanguard The Vanguard, our first Mk III model, is based on - TopicsExpress

The Vanguard The Vanguard, our first Mk III model, is based on our belief that the Rolex Ref. 6152 of the 1950s would by now be slightly smaller, slimmer and more wearable to keep up with the times. The edgy, dimpled lugs are charateristic of the Vanguard and with these design changes the Vanguard, while still at 44 mm, creates an illusion of having a wider and lower profile than its Mk I & II siblings. The Mk III Vanguard also eschewed mineral glass and single domed sapphire, used predominantly in the Mk I and earlier Mk II models, for double domed sapphire with colourless anti-reflective coating on the underside. While being significantly more costly for us to acquire, the double domed sapphire crystal reduces optical distortion, is more shatter-resistant and helps achieve a cohesive design. In its first production run the Vanguard has two dial variants - Classic and California, the latter with two color choices, black and (very dark) navy blue. The Dark Vanguard is the PVD version of the Vanguard and currently has only one dial variant, the Classic, although in the second production run there will also be a California dial Variant.
