For his re-working of the murder mystery genre (interlaced with social satire), Altman raided the Equity books to assemble a dream cast of Britain’s finest thesps then sets them loose in an exquisitely detailed country house for a bit of extra marital mayhem and murder. In autumn 1932, Sir William McCordle (Gambon) and his wife host a weekend shooting party at their country estate – Gosford Park. Included in the party are a couple of real-life celebrities, the sisters of the hostess and an army of serving staff who accompany the guests and swell the already large household. With a sharp eye the film observes the treacherous intertwining between upstairs and downstairs, and within the two classes, revealing a way of life on the edge of distinction.‘A virtuoso ensemble piece to rival the director’s NASHVILLE and SHORT CUTS…’ New York Times Featuring Refreshments Admission: $5 and $8 (non members VSA/NE and OSM) RSVP: Ed Gordon 781-643-0554
