The Vincennes Fourth of July committee is seeking nominations for the 40th annual “Spirit of ’76 Award.” The award is given annual to a Knox County resident who helps to make his or her community a better place to live through their personal involvement, either by donating their time, talent, energy or resources. Letters of nomination should include biographical data on the individual and examples of how this person meets the criteria for the award. Previous award winners include: Jerry Coonrod, Norbert Brown, Dan Osborne, Freddie Fay Burke, Nancy Hensel, Maurice ‘Bud’ DeHon, Rabb Emison, Mike Sievers, Dennis Latta and Shirley Rose. Nominations are due by 4 p.m. June 13 and should include biography of the nominee.
