The WICB Northern Cluster Grass Roots Cricket Development Program for 2014, came to an end on Saturday December 20 at The Beausejour Cricket Ground, with a day of activities which included cricket matches, fund raising (the raffle draw for a mountain bike) and a brief ceremony to recognize and award participants. In the feature match of the day, a Grass Roots under 15 Cricket team completed a comfortable 6 wicket victory over a National under 15 Camp representative team with Lee Solomon stroking an unbeaten 30 to the victory effort. Earlier on, useful scores for the camps representative team came from Garvin Serieux with 30 not out and Simeon Gerson 25 not out. In the brief closing ceremony, special awards were presented to the more outstanding performers for the year. 1 Dane Edward: Represented St. Lucia and the Windward Islands Under15 Cricket Teams as an opening batsman. Scored 2 centuries, one for his school in the Cepal Holdings Tournament 109 not out and 116 for the Windward Islands Under15 Cricket Team vs Guyana in the WICB 2014 Regional Cricket Tournament. 2 Kimani Melius: Represented St. Lucia and the Windward Islands Under 15 Cricket Team as an opening batsman. Registered 2 centuries in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary Schools Under15 Cricket Tournament 2014. Scores of 120, 126, also hit 82 not out in one of his innings. 3 Qiana Joseph : (13 year old female). Represented St. Lucia in both the national under 19 and senior cricket teams in 2014. Received the player of the match award for St Lucia vs Dominica in the WICB senior female tournament. 4 Stavone Gabriel : Took a Hat trick in the 2014 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary Schools Under15 Cricket Tournament. 5 Janai Dalsou : Took a Hat trick in the 2014 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary Schools Under15 Cricket Tournament. 6 Rene Montoute : Was a member of the victorious 2014 St.Lucia National Under15 Cricket Team which won the Windward Islands Under15 Cricket Tournament. Special remarks were made by the PS in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Mrs. Fortuna Belrose and The President of the St. Lucia National Cricket Association, Mr. Julian Charles who both urged the participants to continue working hard and strive for excellence.
