The WWE held their annual Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event on Sunday night, Oct. 27, and there were two matches inside the giant Hell in a Cell structure, with the main event seeing Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton battle for the WWE Championship, with WWE Hall of Fame legend Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. Here is a look at the WWE Hell in a Cell recap from the big show. Before the pay-per-view started, there was a special free match on the Kickoff Show. The match was originally supposed to be an Intercontinental title match between Curtis Axel and Big E Langston, but Axel was injured and could not make it. As a result, Mr. Money in the Bank Damien Sandow beat Kofi Kingston in the pre-show match. The WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view opened with the big triple threat tag team match, where Goldust and Cody Rhodes defended their tag team titles against former champions The Shield and The Usos. The Rhodes brothers won the match and retained their tag team titles when Cody Rhodes pinned Seth Rollins after the Cross Rhodes. After that, The Miz came down to the ring. He has been beaten up over and over by the Wyatt Family over the past few weeks. They were originally planned to wrestle at Hell in a Cell, but a Bray Wyatt injury delayed that. The Miz came to the ring and challenged Bray to come out and fight him. Bray came on the big screen and declined but his men, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan ran in and attacked. Kane made the save, but then chokeslammed The Miz. A mixed tag team match was next and it saw Fandango and Summer Rae beat The Great Khali and Natalya when Summer Rae pinned Natalya. Why they had this match, but found nothing for Dolph Ziggler to do on the PPV is ridiculous. The next match was a new match. Since Big E Langston did not get his pre-show match, he got a chance to fight Dean Ambrose for the U.S. title instead. Big E won by countout, meaning that Ambrose remains the champion. The first match inside the Hell in a Cell was next as CM Punk battled Ryback and Paul Heyman in a handicap match. Heyman was smart and went to the roof of the cage so he would not have to wrestle Punk. However, Punk ended up beating Ryback with the GTS after he hit the Macho Man elbow through a table. He then went to the top of the cage, beat up Heyman with a kendo stick and then hit the GTS on top of the cage. Up next, Los Matadores beat The Real Americans. The world title was on the line next as John Cena made his early return from his elbow surgery to fight Alberto Del Rio. Cena ended up beating Del Rio and winning the world title with the Attitude Adjustment. This is Cena’s third title reign and he has not held this particular title since 2009. Brie Bella got her chance to win the Divas title next but fell short as AJ Lee made her tap out to the Black Widow submission hold after Brie accidentally kicked Nikki, causing the distraction. This might start the rumored breakup of the Bella Twins. Finally, in the main event inside the Hell in a Cell structure, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan battled for the vacant WWE Championship with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. The match went over 20 minutes and the end came when Shawn Michaels was inadvertently knocked out. Triple H came into the ring after that so Bryan hit the hard knee to knock him out. Shawn saw that and then superkicked Bryan and Orton pinned him to become the new champion. WWE Hell in a Cell had another screw job finish and they might have finally ended the Daniel Bryan push. Fans love him but you can only cheer for someone for so long until their constant failure to win makes you just give up on them completely. The end! What Do you guys think about this hell in a cell ppv? -jon
