The Wal Mart Channel Vicki: What are you doing up so late? Dee: If you thought I was sleepin, whyd you come over? Vicki: I didnt think you were sleeping. Your light is on and your front door is open. Dee: I was enjoyin the cooler air. Vicki: If you dont want me here, I can go home. Dee: No, I just dont want ya to wake me up to visit. Im awake all day long. You can come around then. Vicki: But youre not sleeping. Dee: So stop standin there arguin with yourself and sit down and watch TV with me. Vicki: What are you watching? Dee: They gave me a new channel. It shows the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie and all those good old shows. Vicki: What channel is it? Dee: Its the Wal Mart channel. Vicki: They have their own channel? Dee: I guess so. They show all those good old shows and they show some of those Hallmark famous hallway shows. Vicki: Hallmark Hall of Fame? Dee: Yeah. Vicki: Dee, this is the Hallmark channel, not the Wal-Mart channel! Dee: Well, that makes more sense. I was wonderin why Wal-Mart was showin all this stuff. I just figured they was tryin to build up a better reputation. They could use it. Vicki: Yeah, but if Wal-Mart had their own channel theyd probably ship over a bunch of shows made in China for an English-speaking audience and the actors would be learning their English from a Chinese-English dictionary, so instead of watching Little House on the Prairie, youd be watching Minute Single-Family Dwelling on the Treeless Tract of Land. Dee: That dont sound like a very good show. I guess Wal Mart oughtta just stick with what theyre doin. I wouldnt like it if they replaced all my characters on Little House. Vicki: Well, they cant replace them. The shows been off the air for thirty years or more. Dee: How can you tell? Vicki: Well, first of all, I remember it. I was alive when it started and when it ended. Secondly, you can tell by the drab colors. Color TV is a lot brighter now than it used to be. Dee: No, its spost to look like that.
