The Warriors have begun training as they prepare for Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Egypt. Only forward Simba Sithole and winger Khama Billiat were missing from training with the former struggling with a knee injury and is waiting to be assessed by team doctor Nick Munyonga. Billiat, according to team manager Shariff Musa, had misplaced his passport and was expected to jet into the country from his South African base later Tuesday. While they are already out of contention for a place at Brazil 2014, Zimbabwe are using the remaining World Cup qualifiers to build a squad for the Afcon 2015 bid. Coach Klaus-Dieter Pagels said they are not taking seriously their Group G games against Egypt, Guinea and Mozambique. “We need such matches against strong opposition so that the players get used to highly-competitive games,” said Pagels. “They should play as many high level matches as possible so that by the time we start Afcon qualifiers they would be having confidence and this competitive edge. This means we are taking the Egypt game seriously as well as other matches.” The Warriors lost 2-1 in the reverse fixture against Egypt in Alexandria. They are at the basement of Group G from last year’s nil-all draw away in Mozambique.
