The Weiland fire was reported at approximately 3:30 July 16 southeast of Rhoads Ranch. Federal, State and Lee Engine Company, Volunteer Fire Department initially responded to a 30-acre fire. Terrain and wind events pushed the fire in a northerly direction and the fire spread to 300 acres. The fire is burning in critical wildlife habitat, however retardant was effective in slowing fire spread. The fire burned actively throughout the afternoon and early evening. The fire has burned through powerlines and is threatening Ruby Pipeline.
