The Wilderness Of Life “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil”. Matthew 4:1 The moment the Father said ‘this is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased’ the heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him (Jesus) like a dove. The next thing that happened in chapter four is that He was led of the Spirit to be tempted of the devil in the wilderness. In the wilderness of life, the second voice came to Jesus; this is not strange because you must always encounter the second voice in the wilderness of life. It comes in diverse forms and shapes depending on where you are in life, the second voice asked ‘if thou be the Son of God, command this stone to be made bread”. That was the devil challenging the first voice that spoke in Matthew 3:17. God cannot, speak contrary to His word, if it is contrary to the word, then it’s another spirit speaking. God was very clear concerning Him; no one cajoled God to declare that Jesus was His beloved Son. Then here comes the devil to ask a ‘contrary question. Jesus didn’t do anything yet to qualify. He had not cast out devils, He had not healed any sick, nor raised any dead yet. So it was the choice of God; an act of God, God decided by Himself and declared: “This is My Son in whom I am well pleased”. Then the devil came to get Jesus to prove that He was indeed God’s Son. Child of God you have nothing to prove, it is God that calls and justifies. The word is enough for you, you don’t need to see an evidence to know it is true when God says by His stripes you are healed, take it from God and believe that it is so. He already knew, there will be false signs in the world. He knew there will be pressures, sickness and disease all around you. But before they came on the scene, before the sickness, disease, challenges, difficulties, pressures came on the scene God had already spoken. He had already spoken concerning your need, your situation and your circumstance. So whatever the enemy brings against you now, it is too late because God has already spoken about your life. He has already declared your victory. Child of God you have a colourful and bright future, so rejoice? Yes you might be in the wilderness today, but like Jesus, hold on to that which the Lord has spoken concerning you and your victory is assured.
