The Witchs Corner Marjorie Rose Creating Herbal Recipes For the beginning practitioner, creating an herbal recipe for magickal use can be somewhat intimidating. There are quite a few excellent books on the market, but what if none of the recipes listed quite meets your needs? Creating a custom-made mixture is not difficult if you take time to plan your recipe properly and have access to a few reference books. Follow these simple steps: 1. Exactly what do you want this mixture to accomplish? Do you want something for protection? What type of protection? Your house, your car, your person? Lets say you have two friends who have had an argument. Of course, you arent going to do any type of manipulative magick, but what can you do to help? You could invite them to dinner with a few other friends. 2. First, look through the indexes in your reference books for any listings on friends or friendships. Read the indicated references and use any key words you may find for additional listings. 3. Remember the magic numbers: 3, 5, 7, 9, etc. while listing the herbs you think might be most effective. My recipe goes like this: Lavender brings peace, wisdom. Angelica good energies, good feelings. PassionFlower calms problems, brings peace, and attracts friends. Motherwort strengthens the spell. Horehound clears the mind. I would combine about 1/8 cup of each herb in an attractive bowl. 4. Feeling the energy from the Earth, charge the herbs to do the work you wish. Add about a cup of a fragrant potpourri mix to the bowl and stir it together. Put it somewhere in the living room where your guest will inhale the scent. 5. For good measure, Id also make a big platter of veggies with an herb dip that just happened to contain rosemary, tarragon and basil (which will promote compassion when used in a shared meal). Charge these herbs also. 6. Your friends are now on their own. However, youve set the stage for clear thinking and a peaceful environment. Be sure to keep track of your recipes, their measurements and effects. Let perceptive friends feel your mixtures and give you their reactions to it. Write everything down! Note: Dont be stupid! If youre intending to eat any herb, make sure it is safe! Many herbs are hallucinogenic, toxic or downright deadly.
