The Wolverine is the Saturday night DVD pick tonight in the Yarnell family room. The collective X-Men movies have become a really prolific franchise, the most successful of all the comic book movie franchises of recent years, with no end in sight. What is interesting is that the X-Men was a second tier team title at Marvel for more than a decade after their inception, lagging behind in popularity to power titles like the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. Then, finally, it was realized that the concept behind these characters hit adolescents right where they live. I mean, what teenager never thought that he or she was a mutant = misunderstood, marginalized and an object of suspicion, yet with gifts that could benefit society immensely if given the proper training to bring them out! And yes, that is very Christ-like! Starting with the Giant Size X-Men #1 revamp in 1975, Muties have never looked back for almost 40 years now! Right now, I am reading the All-New X-Men title, in which the five original X-Men are brought from the past to confront their future selves. It is enjoyable.
