The Year 2014 in Sports: Most Epic Wins and Heartbreaking It has been another memorable sporting year, with a healthy dose of highs and lows across the board. From the history-makers to the simply brilliant,-down to the heartbreaking events. At the end of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, Team Nigeria finished in eighth position, winning. 11 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze medals. August 6, 2014. Crown FC recorded her first home defeat by Lobi stars in Ibadan. August 9, 2014. Crown FC recorded her biggest defeat in the Nigeria Premier League with a 7-1 away loss to Warri Wolves October 25, 2014. The Super Falcons of Nigeria defeated Cameroon 2-0 to win the ninth edition of the African Women Championship (AWC) in Windhoek, Namibia. Goals from Desire Oparanozie and Asisat Oshoala were all Nigeria needed to reclaim the AWC title. By reaching the final, Nigeria and Cameroon had already qualified for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Canada. November 16, 2014. Just like it happened in 2012 when Samson Siasia failed to qualify Nigeria for Gabon/Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria also failed to qualify for next year AFCON in Equatorial Guinea after a 2-2 draw against South Africa. November 23rd 2014. Two-time African champions Enyimba defeated Dolphins 2-1 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos to claim their fourth Federation Cup title.
