The Young Leaders Visitors Program 2015: Develop Skills to advance for Social Change (MENA youth Eligible) Deadline: 12 December 2014 The Swedish Institute invites youth between 20 and 32 years who are actively working for democracy and human rights within the spheres of society, culture, politics and media for the Young Leaders Visitors Program (YLVP) 2015. The YLVP aims to provide the participants with new skills, broadened networks and innovative tools to strengthen their work to drive social change in their respective contexts. Costs related to accommodation, food and transport; insurance, visa will be covered by the Swedish Institute. Areas Leadership Training Social Media Knowledge exchange and inspiration Practical experience Modules YLVP in Sweden: 17 May – 5 June 2015 Experience-based intercultural leadership training Personal as well as group development Hands on training with the use of cutting-edge social media tools Exchange of experiences and creative strategies in the work YLVP in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA): 21-27 November 2015 Opportunity to maintain, build and expand network Eligibility Criteria Applicants must be citizen of one of the following countries – Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank-Gaza, Yemen or Sweden. Applicant must be an engaged leader within the spheres of society, culture, politics or media (for example project managers, youth leaders, journalists, bloggers, activists, youth politicians, cultural workers, civil servants, lawyers and pedagogues). Applicants must work actively for democracy and human rights. Applicants must be between 20-32 years old (at the time of the start of the program). Applicants must have a good working knowledge of both written and spoken English. Applicants must commit to participate in all activities of both module 1 and 2. Application procedure Submit completed YLVP application form 2015 in English with contact details of two referees; curriculum vitae and a photo (optional). Applications will be reviewed on the following basis The relevance and quality of personal motivation and commitment, the applicant’s answers to the YLVP application form, curriculum vitae, and general qualification of the applicant. Shortlisted candidates will be called for google hangout interview. 30 applicants will be selected and offered a place in the Young Leaders Visitors program.
