The Young Women’s Salvation Army Hostel, 471 Dowling Street, Moore Park. c1927. The hostel was built in 1924, at a cost of £15,000, to provide accommodation for 130 young women. It was established to meet the needs of young business women whose work brings them to Sydney, but whose homes were elsewhere. This new building replaced an earlier hostel in Elizabeth Street.
