The Zambian Political Violence can be best defined as the act of forgetting or ignoring who we are : brothers and sisters of one another, each one of us a child of God...therefore we do not need warlike, aggressive and quarrelsome leaders around us , Zambians are not looking combative thugs who are happiest when quarrelling or better yet , actively engaged in political violence...All need a Commitment to fight Political Violence. To pursue peace, we need to stop political violence and violent leaders from attacking those who put them in power! We need to pledge that all abide by the law ... Here is what we need to do as a people . Believing that political violence is for animals and is woven into our Zambian community and that overcoming it must begin with each one of us, we must commit ourselves to a life of non political violence and to working with others of whatever party, faith or persuasion, who make a similar commitment. To this end , we the people must commit ourselves * To avoid political violence, avoid bad leaders * To engage in responsible acts of violence * To seek alternatives to be part of national building and to support leaders who are not for violence by voting for them as an alternative * To protest systems and leaders of political violence through peaceful affirmation or protest and when necessary, through civil disobedience * To help in our communities to advance the nonviolent teachings of Dr. martin Luther King , Gandhi and the great religious leaders of major faiths. We must trust in God in his sustaining love and believe that just as he gave us the grace and desire to offer us life, so we will also bestow abundant grace to fulfil our pledge to stop political violence. As a people we need to commit ourselves to living according to the vow that we shall help to end political violence now and in the coming months , but we shall not allow anyone to be a victim of those we call leaders in our community . We must agree to reflect on and abide by the following non political violent way of life: 1. Refrain from insults, swearing and threats and withstand the anger of others 2. Refuse to be a political victim, verbal or physical assaults 3. Protect others from insults or attack 4. Show an attitude of openness, friendliness and respect toward everyone, including police and opponents 5. Ask others to join you and show that you do not support political violence at all ! 6. Never follow violent leaders. We are brothers and sisters of one another, each one of us a child of the MOST HIGH...
