The Zambian VoicePress Statement on Hon. Guy Scott Acting as President of The Republic of Zambia 31st October, 2014 As an organization we are saddened by the passing-on of President. Zambian Voice had a special relationship with President Michael Chilufya Sata and we will miss him. Our relationship was based on Truth and patriotism for Zambia. Therefore, we would like to mourn him in the same spirit that existed when he was alive. We are convinced that even if our President was to come back today, he would be happy with our work just as he was when was alive because we told him the Truth for the love of Zambia and his legacy. Hon. Guy Scott As Acting President Highly Questionable We are not convinced that Hon Guy Scott assumed power in accordance with the law under the circumstances. The article 38(2) (3) which is being quoted by Antony General Musa Mwenye is being quoted out of context and it is misleading. Our view is that the article that should apply is Article 39. As civil organization we have thought resolved to take this matter to court for interpretation for posterity. Precedence When Late Mwanawasa Passed On Not True We were caught in disbelief when the Attorney General stated in his statement to the media that precedence was sent when President Mwanawasa died whereby, George Mpombo was the one acting President while president Rupiah Banda was just Vice President. This is a total misrepresentation of facts. We wonder why the AG finds it easy to advise the nation on unresearched legal grounds. Certainly as the number one Lawyer he has all the resources to do a good research before he guides the nation. We would like to urge our AG to research more before he gives advice to our leaders. Is Guy Scott Declaring a Mini State of Emergency? We are also baffled by the stein warning coming from Hon Guy Scott and Inspector General Stella Libongani which was broadcasted on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC). In as much as we appreciate the Acting President’s concern to keep law and order, we wonder what is prompting him to almost declare a state of emergency. Since the President died, there has been any form of civil disobedience to warrant the warnings unless it is meant to intimidate people who may question how he got power from his colleague Edger Lungu who was entrusted with the powers by the President before he died. May the Souls of the Faithful Departed Rest in Eternal Peace. CHILUFYA TAYALI Executive Director The Zambian Voice
