The actor and comedian Robin Williams killed himself today...although I didnt know him, he used to hang out at the Improv, a famous comedy club in L.A. when he first started really blowing up...I lived literally right around the corner from the Improv, and would walk up there two or three nights a week to have a drink in their great bar, which had big open windows, like Hawaii...he would have a drink in both hands, running around the room like a fly, throwing his head back and laughing like a maniac...he would be beet red in the face and sweating like a slave, with little clots of cocaine falling out of his nose...aside from that craziness, which as I understand he went to rehab several times, I always got the vibe that he was a troubled soul, kind of the poster boy for the sad clown syndrome...anyway, lots of talent, a little manic for my taste, but RIP Robin Williams...he was 63...
