The actual FACT is that because animal rights groups are also on a war path against zoos and sanctuaries, there is little to no money available for these animals to be brought back from the brink by government run facilities. Animal rights groups would rather see an animal extinct than see them brought back in captivity and that is honestly just impractical. So your telling me that you want to see these animals die out entirely, despite the fact that we know so little about them, rather than let them be brought back on ranches so that they can be reintroduced into the wild and brought back from extinction? Yes, on these ranches they do allow hunting of these animals (which at first I admit sounded like it was defeating the purpose to me) but the animals that are hunted are the ones which genetically have nothing to offer to the herd as a whole or which could even endanger the genetics of the herd if allowed to reproduce. The hunting on these ranches helps thin out the gene pool in benefit to the animals and funds the conservation without a single government dime (which is a good thing, because if the facilities were government funded animal rights groups would be constantly petitioning to have them shut down) also in these ranches inhumane treatment is not tolerated. You dont see someone gut shot an animal and leave it to die like you do in the woods with regular hunting (in the woods that only happens when your hunting with an absolute idiot) the animal lives humanely, and is killed humanely, then its body is used not just left in the woods somewhere. Long story short, Im a vegetarian and an animal welfare activist and I am for these ranches.
