The allegations of misconduct at the Phoenix VA, and other locations, are deeply disturbing. As the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Health, I am appalled by the pace at which this investigation has progressed, and believe the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee must keep up the pressure until we get to the bottom of these very troubling allegations. Unfortunately, I do not believe the VA has provided sufficient answers to our legitimate questions which is why I supported the serious next step of issuing a subpoena. Furthermore, I am deeply concerned that these practices may be more pervasive within the VA medical system which is why my colleagues and I are instructing the VA to conduct a thorough nationwide audit of scheduling practices at all VA medical facilities and why I will be particularly focused on the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System that services my veterans in Ventura County.
