The almost full moon is in Gemini today, applying to square - TopicsExpress

The almost full moon is in Gemini today, applying to square Neptune in Pisces this morning and then gradually applying to an opposition of Mercury and the Sun, making our Full Moon by tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, Mars has entered the sign of the water bearer, Aquarius, and the Uranus/Pluto square is intensifying every day. Last night I received an email from a friend asking why I havent written more publicly about the Ferguson case in Missouri. Responding to her this morning I realized my response was reflecting the planetary dynamics in the sky, and so I decided it would make a good horoscope topic for today. Even on CNN this morning there are more and more protests happening in response to the police brutality shown towards black Americans. These protests and demonstrations are a clear showing of the Uranus/Pluto square. Where an event bursts forth from the collective shadows like a volcano erupting (Pluto), and as a result we are compelled to create radical change or revolution (Uranus). What I explained to my friend this morning in my email, and what I think many astrologers have been saying for quite some time now, is that this particular dynamic is only reflecting one side of a very complex archetypal relationship. The other side of the dynamic occurs when the Uranus/Pluto square keeps acting itself out over time. Because its not such a simple equation: shadow exposed, revolutions launched, positive changes reached. For example, in the corporal punishment/child abuse scandal of NFL running back, Adrian Peterson, the issues are intensely complicated. We see an image in the media of a bloodied young child (who received a whooping with a switch), and we rightly demand justice. We say there is a domestic violence problem with pro athletes. We say that people need to be educated. And we celebrate the blacklisting of any celebrity who would ever do that to his own son. A shadow is exposed (Pluto), and a revolutionary response is garnered (Uranus). Victory, right?! But not really, because when we see a shadow and we simply shout evil! then our response has automatically become self-righteous and overly polarizing. In becoming so reactionary, we miss out on the opportunity to visit complex subjects like racial history and geography, corporal punishment and religion, slavery and the difference between black and white child-rearing in the country. The next thing that generally happens is that the super polarized revolutionary response (Uranus) is the next thing in line to be exposed. People start feeling the collective shadow of a mob mentality, and then people start withdrawing and going inward. We shut off the television and stop caring. And a person like Peterson may feel justified, given the polarized public response to his actions, to feel like the victim or to feel more deeply convicted of his corporal punishment methods. On a subtler level whats happening, in other words, is the deepening of various divides, as well as the complexification of all the subjects at hand (which may also serve in the long run to evolve us just as much as any mass demonstrations or moral outrage). So just as much as Pluto can create these eruptions and Uranus these revolutionary responses, Uranus revolutionary responses can also create the exposure of mob mentality and the oversimplification of taboo subject matters that are calling for a more patient, measured, and nuanced exploration (which Pluto is often more capable of going INto than Uranus, who loves to soar above things). Back to the Ferguson case. The reason Ive stayed away from commenting is that its a touchy subject, and one where I feel a huge variety of things are at play. To me the issue is too complex to be outraged in only one direction (if I wanted to be outraged). The issue is too divisive to be only divided in one way. Ive turned off the television, and mostly tried to explore the nuances, contradictions, and subtleties of all of these issues (especially during the months leading up to my recent wedding). Ive done this because after five years of watching this Uranus/Pluto square, Im convinced that the simple Uranus/Pluto equation I mentioned earlier (shadow event, heroic revolution) is not the only version of the story worth sharing. At this full moon time, with Mars entering Aquarius, its going to be much harder to avoid these subjects (and over the next few weeks too). We are likely to be confronted with our own contradictions and inconsistencies. Were likely to feel morally outraged or upset about something or powerless to make any real changes. Were likely to feel like demanding change. Were likely to feel like we want to turn off the television. Like the stories and all the heat surrounding them is somehow too simple, like something is missing. All of this and more as our final Uranus/Pluto square approaches. CNN Image: sit-ins, die-ins, blockades. In kickstarter news, were now at $13,470 toward our final goal of $15,000!! Please help me reach my goal. If you read my horoscopes each day and you value them or theyve become a part of your online diet, then please give whatever you can to help me support my work for the next year! Help me to find the soulfulness in dark places, the revolutions of great contradiction and disturbing paradox.
