The ancestors of the Kassin family had been involved in Ireland - TopicsExpress

The ancestors of the Kassin family had been involved in Ireland since the 11th century when they came from William the Conquerors Norman England and they were known as the Sullivan Mor (Mar Suleiman/ Solomon). They claimed descent from the Aongus Mor or Eoganacta of ancient Ireland of the Exilarch family of Mar Joseph of Arimathea. The medieval monks of Ireland used the records of these families in creating the Irish genealogies and histories. One writer on the history of the Sullivan family Maryl Hook reveals : In the 1300s there was a convention to determine which families in Europe were Royal. Families from all over Europe sent representatives. Most were turned down. How the OSullivan Mor was able to convince the committee that the OSullivan-Mor were a Royal Family is unknown, but he did it and as a result the OSullivan Mor coat of arms has the crown of a king on it. Another website on the OSullivans states:...The OSullivans are believed to have traded with Cornwall, Bristol, and places in the East; are said to have had ships, yawls, and many boats; and some of them to have been noted sailors and commanders at sea. The figure-head of their ships (as represented on a seal in possession of Mr. T. Murtogh OSullivan, in India, which has been submitted to us for inspection) was a sailor standing upright in a boat with a fish in each hand extended over his head... This branch of the OSullivan family, it would appear, were the pioneers of the OSullivans, who first settled in Kerry; the OSullivan Mór family following soon after. From their bravery and prowess the OSullivans were by their own people styled the No surrenders... [Genetic studies demonstrate that the main Sullivan Mor lineage belongs to R1b-L21 which is the Davidic y-dna]
