The article, in Times of India, with regard to the Kiss of Love movement has a rather amusing statement. It is actually an alleged quote from an honorable student of the university. As per the report of this popular daily, the respective student said, and i quote, they wanted the freedom to do PDA. Now, before we jump into the attractive cesspool of arguments and counter-arguments, I must clarify that this daily does have a history of misinterpreting facts and adding color to make matters more readable. If that is the case here, then the student is not at fault and should sue the daily at once. But, IF it is true, then I, also a student of this University, would like to say THAT THE STUDENT HAD NO BUSINESS using the word they. I AM SORRY BUT I DO NOT WANT ANY SUCH FREEDOM THAT ALLOWS THE LIBERTY OF DISPLAYING AFFECTION IN PUBLIC. If that student wants to do so, IT IS TOTALLY A PERSONAL ISSUE and one should not involve the name of an institution with it. The act of moral policing is condemnable but that does not mean I have to rebel against any such diktat IN SUCH A FASHION. a KISS is VERY PERSONAL. Debates, regarding its purity, can be settled at a different venue but MY EMOTIONS NEED NOT BE DISPLAYED in public. It is true that i do have the right to kiss BUT I NEED NOT YELL IT OUT LOUD. There are many ways of protesting. Moreover, the change cannot be so sudden and abrupt. If people want to live in a state of denial about the actual scenario of our society, then it is mere foolishness. If i want to live in a society where PDA is casual and acceptable like the industrialized countries, first we have to BECOME LIKE THEM. IN EVERY SPHERE. Oder shudhu PDA e nebo kintu oder DISCIPLINE aar PUNCTUALITY ke konodin dekhbo na, ta toh hoyena. If people are arguing in favor of it by bringing reference of the tribal regions, FIRST WE HAVE TO ACCEPT THEIR CULTURE TOO. Tribal der shudhu chumbon aar jounota e dekhle?
