Read his story below and check out his awesome photos. You can follow Bruce on instagram @brewloid I’m a musician, in a great band, full of really talented musicians and good people. Music has been a huge passion for me for most of my life. Portland has a vibrant music community, I have a ton of musician friends and I love being in the big, fat middle of it all. Because of my IPF, I may not be able to go see a lot of shows, or make every rehearsal and every gig, but my band and I work around it. My band recently played a big show at the 27th Annual Portland Waterfront Blues Festival on July 4th. It was a big gig for me and an amazing experience. The attached pictures are me on stage on the 4th, with my US flag proudly flying on my oxygen tank and me with my cannula on, laying down the bass groove. I learned long ago to not to feel weird about wearing my cannula in public. If I can wear oxygen in front of thousands of people, you can do it in public, too! I’m about to embark on a brand new hobby, photography, and get my first DSLR camera. Ive been researching cameras and photography books for weeks and it’s time to take the plunge. I’m excited to get started on a brand new endeavor! I love the natural world so Im interested in taking pics of birds, animals and landscape. Theres a lot of technique involved and you need the right lenses for different types of shots. Also, I want to get good enough to take quality low light pics of my friends and other folks in our music community while theyre on stage performing. Since I may not be able to play a lot of live shows much longer it will be fun to channel that creativity in other ways. If youve got PF my advice is to not go it alone. Seek support from as many places as you can. There are resources available to us and as far as online social media sites check out the PFF’s Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin accounts. Staying in frequent contact with even more folks that have PF is another way for me to stay connected and engaged with the solution. Follow the PFF on social media!
