The attorneys for the mother and son accusing Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh of having an inappropriate relationship with the teen – have issued a press release stating that their client has filed a complaint with police in the matter. The attorneys in the Charles Pugh alleged assault have announced that a criminal complaint was filed Saturday by their client and his mother with the Madison Heights police department. Attorneys for the complainants state: “As a result of the filing of this criminal complaint by our clients, the civil lawsuit which was to be filed on Monday, July 1st 2013 has been postponed.” Madison Heights police did confirm to WWJ that a complaint was filed and “the subject was Charles Pugh.” But could not address the nature of the complaint. Although it’s not clear exactly what the allegations are … Ivan Land, an Oak Park attorney representing the teen’s mother, claims Pugh took the student off campus in a city car and gave him gifts including cash and a mobile phone on which he text messaged the teen. Speaking at a news conference earlier in the week, Land said the teen’s family is suing the school district for failing to protect the boy, who was 17 when he met Pugh through a leadership program at Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men. Why Pugh disappeared remains unconfirmed, but it coincides with allegations that he had an inappropriate relationship with a Detroit Public Schools student he mentored
