The author of today’s Our Daily Bread has drawn attention to one of the little known and remembered saints of the ancient church in order to remind us that everyone is important great work of our Lord. He tells of the great 8 week crusade of Billy Graham where he packed in over 6,000 people per night into the big tent. However, there were many people we didn’t know at all meeting and praying in the little tent next door interceding for the night’s message and for the Holy Spirit to move and convict. These people had names we do not know but performed an amazingly important service. This is true of Epaphras, whom the author reminds us was “a founder of the Colossian church, who is “always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God” (Col 4:12).” Every church has these people. In my memories I remember them from my childhood: Luther and Blanche Rice, Millie Compher, Ruth Crites, Billy Beechler, and so many more. They were not the deacons and people leading the many ministries of the church, but the people who showed every time the doors were open, early, so that they could be praying together for whatever was going on. Do you know any of those folks in your life? Take a moment and thank God for them now. God bless you. odb.org/
