The bad news is that not all courses are available in all colleges. A few colleges are closing admissions in BCom (honours), political science and history. Economics and English honours courses are also closed in some colleges. Shri Ram College of Commerce, though, is likely to keep admissions open to BCom (honours). Colleges like Lady Shri Ram, Hindu, Sri Venkateswara, Miranda House, Indraprastha College for Women and others will also admit students in a majority of courses. On day two of the first cutoff admissions in Delhi University, the number of admission seekers rose at both campus- and off-campus colleges. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, which admitted 87 on the first day, admitted 207 students on the second and, interestingly, 205 of them in BCom (honours). However, it was Gargi which took the lead in statistics with 990 admissions. Programme courses will remain open. But, with 70 admissions against 40 seats, English will be closed. History, zoology and microbiology admissions, too, have been more than the number of seats and are likely to close after the first list. The rest will remain open but cutoffs will drop marginally, acting principal Sashi Tyagi said. In LSR, there will be no second cutoff for psychology. Kamala Nehru, too, will close admissions to English. Another off-campus college—Shivaji—will close admissions in English and geography. A significant drop in cutoffs can be expected in BA, BSc, BCom and Hindi. Campus colleges have also over-admitted. Hindu enrolled more than its capacity in political science and history while Miranda House did so in political science. Political science and history admissions will end with the first cutoff, said principal Pradyumn Kumar. SRCC is likely to keep its BCom (honours) admissions open as well. The college has enrolled 418 students in BCom (honours) against 501 seats. We will know the situation tomorrow. However, BCom (honours) may be kept open, probably without any change in cutoff. Reserved category admissions will remain open on the second list, principal P C Jain said. Ramjas admitted 670 students in 1,334 seats. Admissions will close in English, history, political science, statistics, BCom (honours) and zoology. There was over-admission in English—110 against 62 seats. A student, Krishnan, has joined BCom (honours) with a 100 aggregate in best of four. When asked why Ramjas, he said he didnt want to go anywhere else, principal Rajendra Prasad said. The second cutoff admissions start from Friday and will continue till Monday.
