The baseline, so the argument goes, [the copyright opponents] have - TopicsExpress

The baseline, so the argument goes, [the copyright opponents] have the right to do whatever we want with our property, including the right to make copies. Copyright changes this by giving authors the privilege to prevent us from copying. Thus, copyright takes away my right to copy by granting an author the privilege to stop me. Moreover, the argument continues, despite the privilege given to authors, we have the right to make fair use of a work. This line of reasoning is "hogwash."
