The beautiful young woman in this picture is my mother, Betty Jean. She would have turned 85 today - our leftover firecracker from the 4th of July (as her Daddy would say)! What a beautiful day she has gotten for her 85th birthday - I SO wish she could be here to see it! If it wasnt for her, a whole bunch of us wouldnt even be here - Florence, Catherine, Deborah, Stephy, Chris, Savannah, Dominic, and many more... She was a sweet, loving, wonderful mother, and Ive been without her longer than I had her. I miss her every day of my life, and would give anything to spend her birthday with her, or any day, for that matter. She would not have wanted a party, but would be happy just to have her family with her and receive yet another white pleated skirt (her favorite item of clothing!). Every time I look at the flowers in my yard I think, Would Mom have chosen those? She always had the most beautiful garden! Last year we had a crabapple tree planted in our front yard in her honor, just like she did when I was born. I am asking those of you who knew her for a favor. Can you PLEASE comment on this with a sweet story of an interaction you had with her? It would make me feel so much better! And she would get a kick out of it, too, if she were here.
