The bible says these are the sons of of God those led by the holy spirit. So if God is leading you away from a behavior, an attitude, or activity then it is law for you to stop, making that action illegal whether the Word of God says it or not, because it has become a specific instruction by the Holy Spirit through your relationship with him. And now you have a basis or foundation by which you can fight because you are not flip flopping on whether its right or wrong because you cant find it in the bible. It has become wrong because God has deemed it inappropriate for your walk with him, and exempted it from your life on the basis of good common sense and safety. Now you can say NO, and provide the reason. And consequently accept Gods will and in accepting his will, liberation from bondage is born.
