The biggest challenge for todays teaching fraternity is to make students understand the value of knowing their minds. They are devoid of REASONS.The objective of CCE was neither understood by TEACHERS nor STUDENTS and PARENTS.A curious mind asked me about the significance of DIWALI and its role in INDIAN NATIONALISM so that he wont have to cram it for exam. The significance of diwali may be connected to the sense of nationalism which has tied all communities into one thread. Legends/Folklores/festivals are to give a sense of belongingness and knowing this is implicitly singing the glory of ur own identity. For Hindus-the legend was associated to the coming of lord RAMA to AYODHYA after 14 years of exile. 2-to commemorate the marriage of Goddess LAKSHMI with Lord VISHNU. 3-The killing of NARAKASURA by Lord Krishna 4-The return of the PANDAVAS from exile. For JAINS: diwali is the day Lord Mahavira attained NIRVANA or spiritual enlightenment .FOR BUDDHISTS: It is significant as the day when emperor ASHOKA converted to BUDDHISM.hence the day is observed as ASHOK VIJAYADASHAMI. The soul is of course Nationalism and bearing this tradition all communities are attached to India irrespective of various differences.
