The biggest obstacle to faith is complexity. Faith is simple. Christian living is simple. Paul warned about Satan beguiling us, leading us away from the simplicity that is in Christ. That is his major work. I listened to something recently, passed off as preaching and it was so other worldly and complex, it made my head spin. People listening to such can become addicted to the complexity, thinking they are on to something great, when in fact they are being drawn away from the simple.
