Its great that people want to engage in dialogue surrounding current events and hot button issues, but when we constantly change our focus based on news headlines and hashtags, we fail to devote the energy and time necessary to actually do anything. Figure out what it is that you care about so deeply that it twists your insides and wrenches your heart and figure out what you can do to change it. Dont just absent-mindedly let the internet dictate your priorities. Things like ALS, homophobia, racism, mental illness, and misogyny deserve more of our attention than a few minutes in the social media spotlight.
