The bogus propaganda that the groundnut pyramid was used to - TopicsExpress

The bogus propaganda that the groundnut pyramid was used to construct the now comatose oil refineries in Nigeria and the building other Nigerian cities when there was no oil boom is a baseless and weak syllogism. Nothing can in fact, be farther from the hallowed truth! These people who champion this big lies believe that their gospel is the reason Nigeria should remain. Why should Nigeria breakup since the north used their groundnut pyramid to build Nigeria before oil boom? That the north should be allowed to reap the fruit of their labor now that oil is here. Even when there are stark realities to the contrary, Nigeria should remain so that north will receive their reward for purportedly building Nigeria. What a beautiful way to hoodwink the shallow minds! Before the oil boom which commenced in the 70s, every region developed at its own pace and according to the resources available to it. The regions kept behind 50 percent of the net income they derived in their respective resources while the other 50 percent went to the centre. What this means is that the East will realize £ 1000 from their palm production, they will keep £500 and remit £500 to the central govt. The same was applicable to the Western region cocoa production and the Northern region groundnut production. How come they talk about groundnut pyramid as if palm oil boom never existed? As if it was their groundnut that Zik used to build the East. Or did Awo use their groundnut to build the West? Enough of this fuss about a certain groundnut pyramid that never had any impact in Igboland and the East in general. The Portharcourt refinery was built by Shell/BP in 1965, before the Nigerian govt later took it over in the 70s. Oil was discovered in the 50s. The Warri refinery was constructed with oil money in 1978. Same with the Kaduna refinery which was built in 1980. And what is an oil refinery doing in Kaduna? When I hear somebody say that the groundnut pyramid was used to build the refineries, I begin to wonder the source of such irresponsible lies. I wonder if such people know that the 1914 amalgamation was as a result of budget deficit witnessed in the north by the British colonial administrators. Nobody is owing the Hausa/Fulani anything because groundnut pyramid was not used to build anybodys homeland except theirs. The only reason Hausa/Fulani is fighting hard against confederation is that they know it will make every region in charge of its resources. They know how lazy they are. Truth they say, is sacrosanct!
