The book Atlas Shrugged was first published in 1957- Central Planners take over the US Economy through regulations- those who build industry, bring innovation to market and create jobs are villified. The US is basically divided between those that produce and those that take. There are basically (3) responses by these producers- 1. Embrace the regulations hoping through crony capitalism to profit while the regulations overwhelm their weaker competitors. 2 Enable- the system- there are those who accept the additional burdens on them and yet they continue to produce because that is their character- even though they are villified and the benefits of their work is taken and given to others for the public good. 3. Evade- the third group realizes that the best way to fight back is to withdraw from the system- to go on strike- that once the system runs out of producers to leach and villify it will self-implode under its own weight of corruption, ineptitude. The central planners whole premise is that producers will continue to produce- Doctors will continue to be doctors and business owners will continue to produce profits that can be confiscated- inventors will continue to invent etc.
