The breaking of the champagne bottle after H.E. Mr. Laurent Stokvis cut its rope marked the opening of the recently extended working hangar of the Zasavica Shipyard of the Dutch company VAHALI Shipyards near Sremska Mitrovica. Since 2013 this shipyard, located on the Sava river, has been under reconstruction in order to become a modern and safe workplace for about 350 local employees. In addition to that, the company is in the process of opening a shipbuilding school in Zasavica, to ensure the quality of manpower in the future. Last year Vahali Shipyards in Serbia delivered 4 cruise ships and 11 beaver/dredger vessels, and last week they inked new deals for new beavers with Royal IHC. Ambassador Laurent Stokvis and the Economic and Trade Department of the Embassy had the pleasure to be guests at the ceremony of the company with which the Embassy has had a long standing history of good relations.
