The calendar page for this new month of August features one of my favorite quotes from the New Testament, in Pauls letter to the Phillippians: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. That having been said, thank you, Great Creator, for making me not only one of Your many children, but for the gifts of the written and spoken word you have given me, too. I am grateful to be part of the Altar Guild at my church, because whenever we get together, I feel like I am helping a bride get ready to meet her groom. And, after all, you loved your own bride, the Church, to the point that you gave up your own life for her. Thank you also for the community of love I have found within my parish family, and for my family, who learned from you to treat others the way youd like to be treatedand and the many friends I have. Thank you also for the happy fact that I have been such an important part of the team at my workplace for sixteen years, and for feeling good about that, too, especially when I have been recognized and commended for going the extra inch for someone. In the end, Lord Christ, you are the one who deserves to be glorified most, because you were here long before the rest of us, and I know you still will be here with us, until the end of the age. Amen and alleluia.
