The city is not jailing enough people for minor criminal offenses - TopicsExpress

The city is not jailing enough people for minor criminal offenses to fill its need for inmate workers. So, after several years of using only inmates arrested by Wenatchee police officers, the city will now accept inmates from around the state who are serving jail sentences at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center. The city hires inmate workers from the jail for $1 an hour to primarily do groundskeeping in city parks and the cemetery. They also help with general labor, such as moving furniture or setting up for the city’s annual auction of surplus items. (full story available at wwrld.us/inmate-workers)
