The city of London and Nelsons coat of arms are depicted encircled by facetted diamonds on the grip of the sword. The centre of the guard is studded with silver set facetted diamonds which read 1798 and Nile The inscription reads: Testimony of the high esteem they entertain of his Public Services and of the eminent advantages he has rendered his country.
